Written by Nicole Somarriba | Feb 23, 2018 3:55:12 PM

Integrators in the AV industry can sometimes run into a problem when it comes to finding the right type of labor for different projects. As you start to pick up more jobs, labor will be needed to keep up with the demand. One of the best sources to turn to for that extra help is an AV Labor source, one that can provide the support you need.

Unfortunately, though, when it comes to AV labor, there are several myths surrounding the type of labor you’ll receive. Some people believe that the labor is unreliable, has a low success rate, and is expensive. These things couldn’t be further from the truth. Most, if not all times, AV labor turns out to be a great source of supplemental help, and is a key element to completing jobs faster, and on time.

Here are the top three myths of AV labor and the truth behind them.

Myth #1: AV Labor is Unreliable

The Truth: Reliability is something most AV labor companies take extremely seriously. Integrators can often feel like temporary labor is “unreliable” and “sketchy”.

Our business model on supplemental labor is all about quick and easy turn around, we have supplied techs within as little as 24 hours’ notice. Replacing a technician is just as simple, the sooner we know, the sooner a replacement is sent.

Besides from replacing techs quick and efficiently, all techs undergo extensive background checks and are vetted specifically for the scope of work your project requires.

Our Labor services are known for having technicians that are experienced, local, reliable, on-demand, and most importantly insured.

Myth #2: AV Labor Has a Low Success Rate

The Truth: I would say 92% of jobs have gone seamlessly. We have successfully completed over 25 projects with one customer and continue to do so. We have been servicing them with technicians for major school and hospital installs. These installs have ranged anywhere from cutting ceiling tiles, to mounting and hanging projectors, to soldering audio connecters (XLR’s).

Myth #3: AV Labor is As Expensive as Hiring a New Employee

The Truth: When it comes to pricing for labor, people will often assume that travel, lodging and meals are also a fee they must pay.

Unlike many other labor programs, we pride ourselves on being transparent and all-inclusive in our pricing. Our pricing starts at an 8 hour- minimum, and is one flat fee, that is charged by the number of hours our techs work.

The hourly rate is determined by the scope of work your project requires, and whether a general installation technician or a specialized technician is needed; even then, the variance in pricing isn’t massive.

Truth is, there are no hidden fees. The negotiated rate is the cost of labor at its entirety.

With these three myths debunked, hopefully you feel more confident in hiring labor to support your upcoming projects. Labor has been a key element in the growth and successes of many businesses. Having the right labor partner, with the right experience is essential. Try it out and see for yourself, we’re worth it.
